Cochise was a beautiful black and whitwe Paint horse chozen by Michael Landon, who protrayed Ben's impetuous youngest son, Joseph "Little Joe" Cartwright. Its lud coloration provided a nice contrast to the buckskin, brown and chestnut horses ridden by other cast members.
